Catelyn's First Snow!

Well, it's only taken two years, but we have finally accrued enough snow here in Southern Maryland so that Catelyn could have her first official play time in the white stuff. And boy was she excited!! We've always talked to her about snow -- showing her pictures of it in books or just trying to describe it to her with the best descriptions we can -- but I don't think she really understood what exactly we were talking about. That is until this past Tuesday morning.

We woke up from a good night's sleep to a beautiful blanket of crisp, clean, fresh white snow. And Catelyn seemed to know right away what it was. All of our descriptions had paid off! She immediately asked to go outside and play in it, but I had to inform her that the play time would have to wait -- we had to take our puppy-dog to the doctor. So after a vet's visit, lunch time, and nap time, daddy got home JUST IN TIME to take our anxious two year old out for her first snowy romp. And boy was that outting a hit! I braved the cold just long enough to take the pictures below, and to hear all of the giggles coming from the backyard (from Catelyn AND from daddy!). It was quite a fun time!

Catelyn peers over the railing of her slide "house" with a big grin from ear to ear.
Daddy prepares to catch Catelyn on her slide -- she was going so fast on that slippery slope!
Catelyn and daddy slid down the slide together and continued down the hill!
We got out Catelyn's shovels and buckets so she could dig around in the snow.
Catelyn stands still long enough for momma to take a picture of her.
Catelyn holds onto daddy as they prepare for a trek through the woods -- one of Catelyn's favorite activities!
