A New Year's Wedding

The first weekend of this New Year was spent in a beautiful section of eastern Ohio: one of Mike's cousins from his dad's side of the family was getting married and Mike really wanted to go and see everyone again. We did a little bit of research (to see how far away it was exactly, if Mike could take off of work, if we could get the dog in the kennel, etc.) and decided that it would be a great excuse to get away for a few days and spend some time together, just the three of us (well, four of us including Baby Bean!). So we booked a hotel room, got Scout in the kennel, loaded up the car, and set off on our big adventure!

We ended up leaving that Friday morning, as it was beginning to snow of course, but despite the yucky weather we made really good time and got to our hotel in 6.5 hours driving time (9 hours total when you count all of the stops I insisted we make -- well, my BLADDER insisted we make!). Our hotel was lovely and it even had an indoor pool, which we took full advantage of. Catelyn LOVED the swim time. It was one of the highlights of our trip!

The wedding was beautiful and it was great to see Mike's extended family again. They are such kind people and really made us feel welcome. Catelyn was a total charmer and everyone fell in love with her. She coaxed many of us out onto the dance floor during the reception and she got busy "cutting a rug" for most of the evening. She instantly took to Mike's cousin Aaron's wife Jess and the two of them had a great time dancing. You can definitely see that from the pictures below!!

All in all it was a great weekend -- Catelyn did FANTASTIC with the traveling, the hotel was lovely, the company great, and the family time priceless. Who could ask for a better way to spend the New Year?
