She's One!

Ladies and gentlemen, the time has come. Catelyn has officially turned one year old! The poor little thing had to celebrate this milestone with a cold (thus the runny nose in the pictures) but despite the cooties, she was her usual happy self.

We celebrated the meaning of November 15th with a "dessert" baby food as Catelyn's celebratory sweet (she was going to be having a birthday cake in a few days for her party). She found the flame of the candle that we put in it quite interesting and I think was a little confused why her food was on fire. Daddy helped her blow it out and she dove right into her little treat. Up until this point she really hasn't eaten too many sweets so I think she enjoyed this new delicacy.

We then pulled out her big birthday present and let her get to unwrapping it. She wasn't as interested in pulling the paper off as she was in climbing on top of the box. She had so much fun with just the box (which we are learning is usually the case with children) she probably wouldn't have cared if it had been empty. She finally found interest in ripping the paper off and she was excited to see all of the bright pictures on the box that previewed what she would find inisde. After a half an hour or so of assembling the gift, Catelyn was ready to play with her own kitchen! She spent the rest of the evening exploring her new toy and making all of the parts do their magic. Perhaps we see a future as a chef for our busy little bee? :)
