The Tenth Month (9 Months Old)

At nine months old, Catelyn has certainly seemed to be the busiest in development. She is still cruising around holding onto adult hands, but has so boldly started to let go of one hand all by herself! She could spend the whole day walking around and be quite happy. She really just lights up when she is up and mobile. She also started pulling up on things and standing by herself. This prompted us to lower the mattress in her crib to the lowest rung -- another step in proving that this little girl is growing up too quickly!

Our active little girl still continues to love the Elmo walker that her Nene bought her and she is quite the little speedster when she gets going on the hard floors. Everyone within reach much watch over their toes so they don't get run over! She is really starting to master the whole crawling thing, and actually doesn't seem to mind being down on her belly now (we think it's because she's figured out how to get up!). It's pretty amusing when she does crawl though because she keeps one leg bent underneath her for balance and uses the other leg to stretch out and push (photo below). It's really quite cute! When you put her down on the floor in one spot, she is certainly not in the same place a minute later. We really are going to have our hands full when she can get up and go on her own!

She is really getting into books, and loves to sit down for story time. Her favorite book is The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. She goes right to that one every time. She loves that it is an oversized book and enjoys all of the bright colors. She especially enjoys helping us turn the pages. She is just so interested in life!
