The Seventh Month (6 Months Old)

Catelyn is now officially half a year old! We started her "birthday" with a song of "Happy Birthday to You!" which she thought was quite funny. We even celebrated with some sweet potatoes for dinner (it wasn't a birthday cake, but she loved it nonetheless!). It's amazing to look back and see how much she has grown over the last six months (well, seven, when you really think about it). Our baby is growing up -- and way too quickly!

We spent this month of Catelyn's life trying even more new things. She continues to love experimenting with new foods -- her favorites are the vegetables -- squash, carrots, peas, and sweet potatoes especially. She hasn't been a huge fan of the fruits yet, but there are still several more to try. Who can blame the girl for not liking prunes?! She loves to help feed herself, and tends to make a tremendous mess in the process. But we encourage her and just have lots of wet washcloths ready! We have even given her some pieces of Cheerios and Gerber Puffs, which she "gums" with a look of such concentration. She really does have the best expressions!

She continues to try to be as mobile as possible. She loves to practice walking and we are just sure that she is going to take off at any moment. Once that girl starts there is going to be no stopping her! She is getting better with "tummy time" and has learned how to roll over whenever we put her on her stomach. She thinks she's hot stuff when she pops over like that. She even rolled from her back to her stomach for the first time on July 11th -- what an accomplishment! She sits up all by herself too without support and can get on all fours like she wants to crawl. Just a matter of time for our little one...

All of us Baines kids do (you included, Will!) -- it's because we're so smart and need all of that extra room for our incredibly developed brains! :)
